We, the undersigned, understand and agree to all the following terms and conditions:
That the student's room will be equipped with bed, chair, desk, desk lamp, closet, and window.
That the student will be provided two (half board) or three (full board) healthy meals per day, as per respective program booking.
That dinner will be prepared by our family. If we happen to be away for an evening meal, or should our student come home later than our regular meal time, we will leave dinner out until at least 8:30 p.m.
To explain to our student all the rules as regards telephone and internet usage in our home.
That internet for communication is included at no extra charge to our students as part and parcel of normal utility use and access in our home.
To explain all our house rules to our student upon their arrival to our homestay. Eg. Use of bathroom/shower, house-guest restrictions, removal of shoes, appliance use, alarm/home security features, etc.
That we will provide our student with all the essentials for their comfortable stay, including clean linens, towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent (if they are doing their own laundry), etc., at no extra charge
That we will make sure to give our student a house key the same day they arrive to our home.
That we will make every effort to socialize with our student, and to make them feel comfortable. We will invite our students to participate in our family outings and social events whenever possible.
That we will never ask our student to do volunteer work for us such as babysitting or house-cleaning (apart from the general maintenance of their own bedroom/personal area).
That if we cannot resolve a problem with our student we will contact HSH and try to work together towards ameliorating the situation. We will make sure to avoid confrontational situations with our student.
That under all circumstances, we will treat our student with kindness and respect.
That we will never host (an)other student(s) with the same native language as our HSH student, at the same time we are hosting our HSH student (unless authorized in advance by HSH).
That we will not allow our HSH student to extend their homestay with us beyond their original reserved end date without first authorizing the extension with HSH.
That we will not accept homestay referrals directly from our student’s family, friends, secondary referral agencies, or affiliates, but will direct them to HSH for further information.
That if a student decides to leave our homestay early and gives us the minimum required two weeks notice, we will refund HSH any extra money already paid us beyond the two weeks more they will be with us.
That if a student has to be changed from our homestay to another homestay for whatever reason, we understand and agree that the two-week notice requirement will be waived.
That the first payment will be received by cheque, e-transfer from HSH within 14 days of our student’s arrival.
That subsequent payments will be received by cheque or e-transfer from HSH on the anniversary of the first payment (making allowance for weekends and holidays), every month thereafter
That for a) stays shorter than one full month b) periods of stay longer than one month but not equivalent to a complete additional month: payment will be prorated according to that month
That we will not discuss homestay financial matters with our students, at all.
That in the interest of preserving a personal, family-like relationship with our student, any questions we have regarding our payment and/or money matters, we will refer to HSH - never to our student directly.
We understand and agree never to accept payment directly from our HSH students; that all payments are via HSH, only.
That we cannot charge or solicit HSH students for any activities, tours, excursions, or other for-profit enterprises organized by ourselves, family, or friends
That under no circumstance will we approach, solicit, or otherwise attempt to contact any HSH partners (schools or agencies), for any reason whatever
That HSH assumes no responsibility for property damaged or stolen during our student’s stay
That if HSH determines we have broken any of the terms in this agreement, or that we have conducted ourselves in any manner unbecoming an HSH homestay family, our student may be removed without notice, our relationship with HSH terminated
That I and all my family members living in our home and above the age of 18 years have undergone a CRC (Criminal Background Record Check) or alternatively that we agree to apply for one within 30 days of this signing or before my HSH student's arrival to my home, whichever the sooner.
That in case we will be hosting any student under fifteen years of age, we further verify that I and all my family members living in our home and above the age of 18 years have undergone a VSC (Vulnerable Sector Check) or alternatively that we agree to apply for one within 30 days of this signing or before my HSH student's arrival to my home, whichever the sooner.
That my household is insured for 3rd party liability in an amount no less than $1,000,000 or alternatively that I agree to purchase said insurance within 30 days of this signing or before my HSH student's arrival to my home, whichever the sooner.
In consideration of my acceptance and enrollment in the StudyNet/Home Sweet Homestay (HSH) program, I hereby release and agree to defend, hold harmless, and indemnify all StudyNet/Home Sweet Homestay (HSH) owners, directors, officers, agents, employees, and partners, from any and all liability for loss, property damage, personal injury, or death, including any such liability that may arise out of any negligent act or omission, of any such person or entities, which may be suffered or claimed by myself or my family during, or as a result of, my participation in the HSH program. Furthermore, I expressly agree that this release, waiver, and indemnity agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect.
I authorize the use of my and my family's name, voice, photograph, likeness, performance and/or biography by StudyNet/Home Sweet Homestay in connection with any use of a product arising out of my participation in the above-described Program. I authorize StudyNet/Home Sweet Homestay to obtain and hold copyrights in such program and products, and to edit my performance and materials in its sole discretion.
I hereby acknowledge that I have read, understand, and accept to all the above terms and conditions."
